Next Tuesday, January 17, 2012, the San Marcos City Council will vote on whether to approve the rezoning of the land atop Sessom Creek and to approve the Casey development plan to build an apartment complex on the land.

If you haven’t done so yet, please sign the petition. And get everyone you know to sign it as well. Then bring it with you to the council meeting on Tuesday.

After you’ve done that, please write an email to the council members and let them know how the voters of this city feel about the issue. Although the development passed 5-2 in the P&Z vote, it will require a supermajority of 6-1 in order to pass in city council. A few council members are up for reelection this year. They might be very interested in what their constituents have to say.

Here are the email addresses of the council members for your convenience:

  1. I lived in San Marcos from 2001-2008. I have also spent time in Dallas, Boston, Washington DC, and NYC, as well. Of all these places, there is not a place on earth as beautiful and Utopian as San Marcos. Apparently, the designers of Central Park in NYC thought the same of San Marcos (in comparison to Austin). Protect San Marcos until the last syllable of recorded time.
